The Cambridge School

The Cambridge School new campus proposal will accommodate 500 students from grade K-12. The campus will provide interactive learning experiences in a classic setting. Located in northern part of San Diego county across the valley from a Spanish architecture exclusive private residential housing complex. Overall school image reflects the existing context of surrounding neighbor’s architectural languages with sloped clay tile roof and stucco exterior.

Master plan reflects school’s main philosophy of Greek methods of academic learning, through congregation/discussion among students/teachers. Central agora with library and outdoor amphitheater in the center, will encourage school-wide activities/interactions among students and teachers.  Lower and upper school classrooms are also grouped around its’ own center court with shaded colonnade/seating for independent gathering and activities. Central part of each school complex, with indoor stepped seating and sectional glass overhead door, can be open to the courtyard for indoor/outdoor classes and performing arts activities.

The School also has open farming field for students’ outdoor learning program and for school’s cafeteria produce supply. Central library tower with four wind-turbine will harvest electricity. A separate Conference center and Black box Performing arts studio will provide community venue for concert, theater, guest speaker civic and special events. It has its own separate parking area with tree lined formal courtyard for after school hour events.
